Overview
Bahrain's NPRA runs one of the more open visa systems in the Gulf, covering eligible travelers from more than 200 countries through a single official portal, evisa.gov.bh. You register, complete the form, upload documents, and pay online — the visa links electronically to your passport, with no embassy visit needed for most nationalities. Citizens of GCC countries (Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, UAE) don't need any visa at all for short visits. The government explicitly warns that evisa.gov.bh is the only official portal — several commercial sites charge extra service fees for the same self-service form.
Visa categories
| Single-Entry e-Visa (2 weeks) | The standard option for first-time tourists from eligible nationalities; must be used within 90 days of approval. |
|---|---|
| 10-Year Multiple-Entry e-Visa | Offered exclusively to US citizens under a reciprocal agreement introduced in October 2020. |
| Family Visit e-Visa | For visiting relatives who legally reside in Bahrain; requires sponsorship documents from your host. |
| GCC Residents e-Visa | For holders of a valid GCC residence permit. |
