Overview
Denmark's Ministry of Foreign Affairs runs ApplyVisa, an online system for the Schengen application form. A detail worth knowing: in many countries, Denmark's diplomatic missions also process Schengen visa applications on behalf of Norway, Finland, Iceland and Sweden, where those countries don't have their own consulate — so if you're applying to visit any Nordic country, you may end up at a Danish mission or VFS Global centre regardless of which specific country is your destination. You complete the form and gather documents yourself either way; only the biometrics/document-submission step happens in person, per standard EU rules.

Documents checklist
- Passport valid at least 3 months beyond your Schengen departure, with 2 blank pages
- Completed ApplyVisa application, printed and signed
- Biometric photo, 35×45mm, white background
- Travel/health insurance valid across Schengen, minimum €30,000, from the embassy's approved list
- Round-trip flight reservation and proof of accommodation
- Bank statements showing sufficient funds
- Invitation form (VU1 for business, VU2 for family/friends) or an equivalent letter of invitation, where applicable
Step-by-step application process
1. Confirm your main destination
You must apply to the Schengen country where you'll spend the most days — if visiting Greenland/Faroe Islands too, a single Danish application covers both.
2. Register on ApplyVisa
Complete your application at applyvisa.um.dk, choosing Denmark (or the represented country) as your destination.
3. Gather your documents
Assemble everything from the checklist, including any required invitation form.
4. Submit at the appropriate Visa Application Centre
Only applicants legally staying in the country where the VAC or Danish mission is located may apply through that particular centre.
5. Pay the fee
Pay the standard Schengen fee at your appointment, in cash where specified.
6. Track your application online
Standard processing is around 15 calendar days.
