Overview
Thailand's e-Visa system went fully global on 1 January 2025, meaning applicants from anywhere in the world can now complete the entire process online at thaievisa.go.th, without visiting an embassy in person — the system covers all 94 Royal Thai Embassies and Consulates-General. You create an account, fill out the form, upload documents, pay online, and receive your e-Visa by email.

Step-by-step application process
1. Confirm eligibility
Check thaievisa.go.th to see whether your nationality needs a visa at all, qualifies for visa-on-arrival, or must apply for the e-Visa.
2. Create an account
Register with a valid email and password on the official portal.
3. Fill in the application form
Enter your passport, travel and purpose-of-visit details, choosing the correct visa type carefully.
4. Upload supporting documents
Attach your passport scan, photo, flight itinerary, accommodation proof and financial evidence.
5. Pay the visa fee
Pay securely through the portal's payment gateway. Fees are non-refundable if the application is refused.
6. Wait for approval and download your e-Visa
Once approved, your e-Visa arrives by email as a document to print and carry with your passport.
7. Complete the TDAC before arrival
Register the Thailand Digital Arrival Card within 72 hours of your flight, separately from the e-Visa.

Frequently asked questions
Is the TDAC the same as the visa?
No — the TDAC is a separate digital arrival registration required within 72 hours of your flight, in addition to (not instead of) any visa you need.
Can I apply for the e-Visa while inside Thailand?
The e-Visa system is designed for applying before you travel, from outside Thailand — check current guidance if you're already in-country and need a different visa action.
What if my passport type isn't "ordinary"?
Be careful selecting your passport type on the form — official/service passport holders must select the correct category, not the default tourist option.
