Laos Visa — Apply Yourself for an e-Visa

Direct Apply — no agent required Issuing authority: Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lao PDR

Overview

Since July 2019, Laos has run a self-service e-Visa at laoevisa.gov.la, open to citizens of around 162 eligible countries — most nationalities that aren't already visa-exempt for short ASEAN-neighbor visits. You apply, pay, and receive an approval letter by email, then get the actual visa sticker on arrival. It's genuinely faster than queuing for visa-on-arrival, and the government explicitly states the possession of an e-Visa isn't by itself the final authority to enter — an immigration officer still checks you in on arrival.

Watch for paid resellers. Numerous travel-agency sites process the same government form for a service fee well above the official cost. The direct government portal handles the full process itself.

Visa categories
